Susmita, a Gold Medalist in Indian Classical Dance – KATHAK, has choreographed many eclectic collections of dance items, each unique in its own way. She combines the grace and the elegant beauty of Indian Classical dances along with the dynamic nd powerful rhythms and the speed of Kathak Dance. She has produced and directed many dance shows like ‘Nritya Tarang’, ‘Sur-Chand’, ‘Nritya-Chanda’, ‘Mahamaya Durga Shakti’, ‘Durga Bandana’, ‘Payal Chand’, ‘Payal Basant’, ‘Nritya Anand’, ‘Nrityanjali’ where Bay area’s best dancers have performed and brought power of musical divine joy and dancing on stage making beautiful waves of dances patterned with rhythm and speed. She has been performing in Silicon Valley for the last thirty eight plus years for many great social causes and for many local cultural events.

Susmita’s incredible artistic creation – “The Bridge” where dance items are on Western Symphony music, Latin music combining Indian Classical dance moves along with Tap. She has performed in the west for many different Community Organizations, Charity Organizations, Social Service Organizations, Universities, Community College – EVC, San Jose Public Library, San Jose County Office and Temple’s fundraising concerts.

Susmita has been very successful at bridging the grandeur of Western Classical and Latin Music with the grace and power of Indian Classical Dance. Payal’s performances show this aspect of Indian Classical Dancing in a great deal where dancers perform with total energy, devotion and dedication.

Susmita credits her mother’s family side, Bhattacharyyas Of Bishunpur, West Bengal, Ramshankar Bhatacharya’s above and beyond contributions to Bishnupur Gharana in the Susmita’s mother’s side of the family, Susmita’s Dadu, Grandfather, Dr, Ramkanto Bhattacharyya and his family – The Famous Bhattacharyya family of Bishnupur, West Bengal. Generations back, Ramshankar Bhattacharya from this Bhattachaya family devoted his musical life and tremendously contributed to the world Indian Classical Music, he was an world renowned classical vocalist and a devoted dedicated Guru who made Bishnupur Gharana shined performing and teaching. Susmita credits her Bhattacharyya family gene root connection to  her amazing wonderful musical journey path, a blessed beautiful artistic life creating artwork digital footprints in 21st century.

The theme was always ‘Swami Vivekananda’. Dream became a true reality with this project. She joined her local friends Sushmita Datta, Sumona Bagchi and many other talented Bay Area young artists to take this artistic idea to a realistic venture doing a drama on this great Indian leader – Swami Vivekananda, A Legacy. This drama successfully brought Swamiji’s great message “Service for Humanity is Service to God” to the next generation, our children and brought such legacy to the community cultural canvas. Susmita thinks this project became her lifetime dream came true. Not enough words to appreciate this very precious moment at present, according to Susmita, with this project, she has reached the Mount Everest peak of her philosophical, spiritual and musical meditation journey where she considers this drama production as one of her biggest cultural achievements realizing ‘Jivey Puja Koray Jejon, Shejon Shevichey Ishwar’— THE MANTRA SHE BELIEVES IN AND PRACTICES — ALL THE TIME   ‘Serving Mankind is serving God’.

Susmita’s most recent very successful drama direction and the stage production, Rain Rhythms Life, Brishtidhara Jibon Chondo connected mother nature and human life journey path heart touching inner emotions expressed through Rain, Brishtidhara.

Susmita’s giving it back to the community programs include ‘Pencil Project’, ‘Share Your Cake Project’, ‘Fashion Walk Joy Project’, ‘Share Winter Blanket Project’ and ‘Celebration Of Life’ Project – These programs’ common vision and the mission is ‘Success For All’ making many needy souls around the world to equally shine bright in this world. Susmita, an Electrical Engineer enjoys her professional journey path in Silicon Valley as a Global Engineering Program Manager for corporate giants experiencing the joy of her Influential leadership role in the computer tech industry. She is a very proud mother of her beautiful daughter and a very dear wife of her very supportive best friend husband. Susmita maintains a very busy schedule balancing between family, work, dance, performances, rehearsals and the community volunteering services. She enjoys doing cultural projects and productions where she gets to work with a great talented team bringing artistic creativity – a reality on stage with the help of a very talented pool of people and artists who are extremely helpful and supportive, great performers and excellent audience. She was the coordinator and the Opening Ceremony Director for a huge convention called NABC, North American Bengali Conference held in SF in the year 1999. Close to five thousand people attended this conference in the heart of Silicon Valley at Santa Clara Convention Center. Susmita is very busy at present working on her next three big productions coming up, two of these productions are on Tagore’s dance drama, authentic original Shantinikaton Bengal style productions and the third project is producing and directing Susmita’s very first documentary movie.
